HI
Brief project description
A literature review of the metabolic pathways that are required to keep hypoxic cancer cells alive and how they differ from the metabolism of aerobic cancer and normal cells. The focus here is on energy metabolism and the possible use of necrotic cancer cells as a source of ‘fuel’. The aim of the project would be to identify potential new targets for the development of new drugs that can eradicate the hypoxic cell fraction. This would be suitable for a student with an interest in biochemistry and the use of modern day metabolomic analysis of biological samples.
