PERCEIVED LEADERSHIP STYLES OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS
IN SOUTHERN LEYTE DIVISION
(Based on the research findings, the above title is suggested to unravel the problems, challenges or even good practices among school leaders and even designated teachers in an area of specialization. As a synopsis, Leadership Style is a leader's style of how they motivate people, providing direction and implementing of plans. School Administrators have their own style in leading people. They have a power to implement rule and they are also the role model of school. The School Administrators Leadership Style is the weapon of the school to more competitive and be well-known in more achievement that the school achieved. According to Iqbal et al., (2015) in past year the leadership has engaged as a new effective approach for managing the employees and organization. Moreover, the traditional concept of personnel administration has gradually replaced with the human resources.
Robinson et al., (2008) cited that there are two different strategy used to identify the types of leadership and its impact. The first strategy is involved a comparison between the impact of transformational and instructional leadership. The second strategy is involved more inductive approach based on a detailed analysis of the meaning of items included in the measures of leadership used in studies of the leadership outcome of relationship. Gopal (2014) further stated that leadership and different associated styles have immense impact on how employees perform and grow, to lead positive organizational outcomes. The Leadership Style of the school administrators has a big contribution in terms of achieving success. However, there are factors that the teachers and school administrators need to take into consideration in leading people and in managing the school in generals. Thus, the researchers want to explore the Leadership Styles of the school administrators in the Division of Southern Leyte which is based on their decision-making capacities and leadership perspective as identified by them and their subordinates.)
Conceptual Framework of the Study
In Figure below shows the relationship between the leadership styles of school administrators and the teachers’ perception in both gender. The study will unravel the awareness and suggested social reforms of the leadership styles of school administrators. The table shows how the researcher gathered, get the common leadership style and how it solve problems in their respective station.

b. if you were to approach the research qualitatively, what questions could be formulated?
Research Questions
Based on the findings, this study suggests to explore and determine the Leadership Styles of School Administrators in the Division of Southern Leyte. The study will reveal what each possesses on how they manage and solve problems and in achieving success.
Specifically, it can be guided by the following questions;
1. What is the reviewed profile of the School Administrators Leadership in the past years? and the teachers profile?
2. What is the School Administrators Leadership Style as perceived by them (School Administrator)?
3. What is the School Administrators Leadership Style as perceived by the teacher?
4. Is there significant difference between the Leadership Style of the School Administrators as perceived by them and the teachers’ perception?
c. Suggest two qualitative research methods that can be used in the study. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
Methodology (as first suggestion)
Research Design
The study suggests to utilize an exploratory descriptive design in gathering the data of leadership styles of school administrators and the teacher’s perception. It is to describe and explain the significant difference of the variables of the study. This design will enable the researcher to phenomenologically (Colazzi, 1978) gather the experiences of the school leadership styles of school administrators themselves and teacher’s perception.
Research Respondents
The participants of the study are the school administrators and their teachers of Southern Leyte Division.
Research Sampling
Purposive Sampling is suggested in order to determine the selection of the participants of the study who are the School Administrators considering that the study are all about Leadership Styles. Moreover, teachers are also considered respondent through random sampling to assess the Leadership Style of their School Administrators. This is in order to achieve triangulation of data.
Research Locale
Division of Southern Leyte is a good research place since there are variety of school administrators and school teachers.
Research Instruments
Guided open–ended questions and data analysis will use as instruments will use to gather the leadership styles of school administrators and the teachers perception.
Data Gathering Procedure
In gathering data, the first thing to do is, the researcher will create permission letter to the school principal of the target participants. Once it is permitted, the researcher will explain and give instruction to the respondent to gather the data. Ethical considerations and data privacy are highly recommended. When the data is already gathered, the researcher will do the interpretation and coding.
⃰Phenomenological Study
The first suggestion will utilize a descriptive phenomenological method of Colazzi, (1978). It will gain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon that will capture the lived experience and to provide an improved meaningful concept of the study.
Advantages:
Phenomenology has unique perspectives: it ensures value of the gathered data, focusing on how people perceived rather than simply how the phenomena exists; Understanding: it ensures a huge benefit of fact that can provide with a profound, detailed understanding of a single or multiple circumstances; and Rich Data: it ensures enough individuals, the data one can receive is rich and impressive.
Disadvantages:
While, on the other hand, this method can be a Subjectivity: it establishes the reliability and validity of the approaches which is challenging and it makes the subjective research difficult; a Bias: there is a researcher-induced bias which can influence studies; Pure Bracketing: there is an interference of interpretation of the data that can lead to a number of headaches in trying to establish and maintain pure bracketing; and Typical: that there might be a dubious claim of the results.
Methodology (as same flow but suggested the second method)
⃰Grounded Theory
The study suggests to utilize a grounded theory of the leadership styles of school administrator. A grounded theory utilizing the Glasserian approach (1978). It is a qualitative research method to investigate the phenomenon of interest in the preliminary study and be able to generate the theory on awareness.
Advantages:
1. Provides for Intuitive Appeal GT is not limited to a specific field, discipline or any type of data (Glaser, 1992). GT can inform different areas and can demonstrat a wide range of applicability (Morse, 2009). 2. Fosters Creativity 3. Potential to Conceptualize 4. Systematic Approach to Data Analysis 5. Provides for Data Depth and Richness
Disadvantages:
1. Exhaustive Process 2. Potential for Methodological Errors 3. Reviewing the Literature without Developing Assumptions 4. Multiple Approaches to Grounded Theory 5. Limited Generalizability Grounded theory fails to recognize the researcher and obscures the researcher's considerable agency in data construction and interpretation (Bryant and Charmaz, 2007). And most of all, a grounded theory methods tend to produce large amounts of data, often difficult to manage.
