and sells smart TVs in a local plant. The firm’s operation manager, Kamal recently
decided to raise the retail price of its TV from RM3,500 to RM4,200. Assuming
the price elasticity of demand for TV is -2.5. It is also understood that the
objective of LG is to maximize sales revenue from selling TVs.
a. What are the contributing factors that made LG televisions
(TVs) price elasticity
of demand at
-2.5.
b. By applying the principles of price elasticity of
demand, justify whether Kamal’s
decision is
appropriate in achieving the firm’s objective.
