People in the state or territory , when the majority of the people as a whole want or don't want an institution to exist, the state or territory themselves will get rid of it 3 I f you eliminated slavery and suddenly have all these people free , it will create chaos and economically having so many more people in the job market skyrocketing the unemployment , economic collapse , the south needs them right now,Again can add better treatment for the slaves . ship them somewhere else , don't want them here as the races will not get along . 4 Compromise such as the Missouri compromise, if you are gonna add states to the union, make 1 state a slave state and the other a free state to make sure the union is evened out. 5 can accept slavery under certain conditions because a significant portion of the northeren economy depends on the use and shipping of southern goods , especially cotton. The north would probably not have been able to survive without materials and revenues generated by the agricultural elements of the south.
