Description

I need is 5 pages long no references nor any quotes. Each question has to answer to the fullest: Who am I: I am 63-year-old Black female 35 years working for the federal government, proud mother of 3 sons who have made a very interesting mark in society, and married with a loving husband who supports me all the way of furthering my education. Which culture/ethnicity do I identify as? I no longer identify as being African American through I know my ancestors are from Africa. Ic Which race do I assign and does this race seem to match/ contrast with social expectations of my culture/ethnic affiliation?

I can't say that my race matches or contrasts with social expectations because many people from different races, ethnic backgrounds, or cultures are defined by the actions of others that are closely related to or that are of the same culture. what experiences (positive, negative or neutral) have shaped my ethnic identity? I am Co-Chair for ( Equal Employment Committee) I cannot pinpoint an experience that has helped to share my ethnic identity, but I have inquiry more about my ties to Africa and those that I descended from. In my contemplation, I have found that I have more questions than answers. I am more in touch with American culture than African, I suppose I'd have to say that I am neutral. Ha travel or experiences abroad or with other cultures, ethnicities, races, affect my thoughts about my identity? I have traveled many places and encountered a wide variety of people and I've learned to get to know people for myself, individually and never trust anyone else's opinion of others.

I find that race is rarely a topic of discussion. In fact, it seems more taboo to speak about racial differences. Traveling as a military wife has allowed me to see that Americans will find anything to set themselves apart to show that they are better than the next, with the largest factor being the race. My history and experiences have created and empathy in me, particularly for who experience prejudice and unfair treatment-immigrants (Have people forgotten that America is, at its core, a nation of immigrants?), homosexuals, the elderly, the poor and displaced. I have given a little bit of information about me for each question that has to be answer In the book Rethinking the Color Line by Charles Gallagher with the information above are their ay highlight or reflections (positive, negative, or neutral) about my identity or experiences? This course is about Race and Ethnic Relations
