In all your writings, you must cite the source(s) of any and every assertion you make. There is no need to cite a fact that can be considered to be commonly known, e.g. Springfield is the capital of Illinois. But you must cite at least one reputable source when you discuss, for example, Barack Obama’s approval rating. This means that anytime you are using someone else’s work or research to support an argument, you must identify the author(s) of that work. This applies even if you do not use the same wording found in the original source. As explained in the syllabus, it is considered plagiarism when you submit someone else’s work as your own.
