Instructions:
I hope this works! Take this Word
document and insert your answers to the questions. Answer questions in sequence.
You will be asked to take screen shots of your Excel spreadsheet and
paste them into the document. I don’t
want you to submit your Excel spreadsheet since it will change as you answer
questions.
When you are finished, save the document as a single pdf document and
upload it to TopHat.
Please do not submit more than 1 document! We will NOT accept a series of pictures of
each page of your assignment. Paste
pictures into a single document.
If you have problems submitting, send me an email.
In place of a project, some of your assignments will be built around
what a project might have looked like.
Let us suppose that the dean of the Sobey School of Business would like
to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected undergraduate business
students. In particular he would like to
know
1.
Has it changed the demographic profile of the student body?
2.
With the loss of employment during the lockdown, how has it affected
summer and fall employment among students and their ability to pay for their
education?
3.
With the stress of the pandemic, employment and the shift to online
classes, how has this affected student mental health?
Normally, it would be difficult to address some of these questions
because we would not have a baseline for comparison. We want to compare students today to students
from the past. Fortunately, we have “some”
data. We have the fall 2019 and fall
2020 surveys of MGSC 1206 students.
Open the file Survey 2019 and
2020.xlxs. This file is in the Data
folder for the course on Top Hat. This
file contains the responses to both surveys for the questions asked in
2020. There are many additional
questions asked of the 2019 students, but they have been excluded because there
is no comparative data for 2020.
1.
Do you believe that these samples will give representative picture of
business students in 2019 and 2020? Why
or why not? Note that we are only
looking at who is or is not in the samples, not their responses. That will be addressed later.
