In this assignment, design a WAN for a multinational grocery chain. WANs can be an excellent platform for sharing information and managing a widely-distributed or global enterprise. You may assume as many locations around the world as needed. The grocery chain has multiple distribution centers to manage and link to its delivery system. Local stores interact via the network to automatically replenish inventories and schedule deliveries. In the past, training for new hires was done locally and was inconsistent. The new system must be able to deliver video content on demand.
These videos on demand provide training on a variety of topics. Because of time zone issues, this system can also be used to inform employees of changes in policies and procedures and track participation. In your paper, address the following: Conceive two or more business objectives the network will meet. Evaluate and describe in your paper the strengths and weaknesses of each type of network design (WAN, LAN, or MAN) in relationship to the business objectives. Select the design that will best meet the objectives and describe the following: The functions the network must perform and how they will be delivered The network components and the reasons why those components were selected The benefits of the network (i.e., cost effective). Specify the qualifications that network practitioners and other specialists should have, recommend cost effective and efficient types of professional development programs for practitioners that will be delivered via the network, and the performance for which practitioners should be appraised.
