Description
The project instructions and deliverables are as follows:
- Download and install Java JDK and NetBeans IDE using the default installation options.
- Run the IDE, and take a screenshot.
- Create a console program that prompts the user to enter their name, the name and address of their employer and position they hold. Then ask if they are hourly or salaried employee. If salaried, ask for their annual income, if hourly, ask for the total hours worked per week (including overtime hours) and their hourly rate. Next, calculate their total weekly gross salary and consider a flat income and deductions of 20%.
- Display this information on the screen, each on a separate line. This should include their name, the name and address of their employer and position they hold, their gross and net bi-weekly pay (based on the information they entered). Aske the user if they want to repeat this operation?
- Run your modified program and take a screenshot of the results.
- Create a document in Word, and add the following:
- Title page which includes: CourseNumber, CourseSection, CourseName, ProjectName (Unit 1 IP), StudentName and Date.
- Screen shots showing the IDE running.
- Screen shot showing the program's output.
- Create a zip that includes your project folder and Word document, and upload it to the course portal.
- Based on your knowledge, experience, and ideas, selects one software modeling language and one tool that can be used with the language. Then, in 3-4 APA-formatted pages, address the following questions:
- What are the key benefits of the selected modeling language?
- What types of software systems can the language represent?
- What are the main features of the selected software modeling tool?
- How does using this language and tool benefit the software designer?
- How would you use this information to set up a project in an IDE?
- Describe the steps you would take to integrate this information in a project you are setting up in the IDE.
- Include at least two references in addition to the textbook.
- Cite all references using APA format.
- Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format should be correct and professional.

The design of software is a critical step in the success of a software project. System models are one tool to help in the design process. Understanding system modeling will add significantly to your skill set.
