Academic Performance Dashboard
JGBS is known for the personal touch and hand
holding it provides to its students. However, over the past couple of years,
the School is finding it difficult to fulfil special needs of its individual
students. The administration feels that the reason for this situation is the
increase in batch strength that has been enforced over the past few years. A
meeting of the Dean, Vice-Deans, and Assistant Deans, is called and it is
decided that a dynamic dashboard be prepared for the Assistant Dean to track
the performance of students in the first year of the program, so that timely
interventions can be made.
You are hired as a consultant to prepare this
dynamic dashboard. The Assistant Dean expects the dashboard to be as graphical
as possible so that critical information may be garnered even at a glance. At
the time of demo, the Assistant Dean expects you to explain the kind of insights
that your dashboard will provide. It is desirable that your dashboard suggests
possible actions that can be taken to improve the situation for students. The
Assistant Dean will be interested in batch-wise, as well as, individual level
insights.
JGBS has provided you data for the last one
year. The attached Excel sheet contains the data for:
1.
Grades
– Term-wise (for 3 trimesters) and course-wise for each student.
2.
Attendance
– Term-wise and course-wise for each student
3.
Courses
– Credits and grading scheme
Your assessment will be based on the following
deliverables:
1.
Week
4: Write-up of 100 words as a PDF document explaining the prospective insights
that your dashboard will deliver to the Assistant Dean along with a tentative
template for the dashboard in MS Excel format.
2.
Week
12: Write-up of 200 words as a PDF document explaining how you have implemented
the logic for the insights promised from your dashboard. This has to be
accompanied with the in-progress dashboard as an MS Excel file.
3.
Week
15: This final dashboard with dynamic figures must be submitted as an MS Excel
file. This must be accompanied with a “How-to” document of 200 words that
explains the different features and their utility for the Assistant Dean.
