jamovi analysis with following guidelines:
write 1100 words out of 1500.
data set is included titled ps71020d_202021_cw (1).omv.
make sure you read the file titled MSc_2020-21_coursework_PS71020D (1) as the main guidelines, as there is also included a sample essay marked from last year and its own dataset with a different research question.
leave out the introduction section (roughly 200 words total) but mention only the justification for the chosen analysis methods in it
analysis using jamovi and not spss on:
the variables that underlie (mis)trust in traditional journalism. In particular, they are interested in whether (i) scores on a subset of the questionnaires can explain a significant amount of the variance in trust in traditional journalism;
(ii) whether any significant effects are independent of age and political conservatism, which the authors considered to be nuisance variables;
and (iii) whether mistrust of experts mediates the association between endorsement of conspiracy theories and trust in traditional journalism. The authors were primarily interested in reliance on traditional media, endorsement of conspiracy theories, and mistrust of experts as predictors. They specifically hypothesized that trust in traditional journalism would be associated with low social media use, greater reliance on traditional media for news, less endorsement of conspiracy theories, and less mistrust of experts.
derive the appropriate method to analyse these variables out of the following options and evidence why you chose them (as well as why you chose certain procedures in data preparation and screening); ANOVAs and MANOVAS, multiple regression, factorial analysis, correlations, covariance analyses, repeated measures analyses. You will likely need to run multiple types of analysis and report them separately to address the factors in question. You also have to write why you chose particular subtypes of each analysis method: ex: 2-way anova... etc
I've included powerpoints for each topic and type of analysis covered thoroughly in this module. You will be expected to run your analyses according to the curriculum and any particular specifications written in these lectures (for example differences in traditions of data screening, or particular tests or preferences assumed in a typical paper made for my university). So please even if you usually do a lot of analyses, double check that there isn't anything left out from what the lecture notes explain an analysis type or cleaning method should cover.
the particular order of these:
(b) detail the screening that was performed to ensure the data are suitable for these analyses (15 marks);
(c) provide descriptive statistics on the measures and information regarding the associations between variables; examine using multiple regression whether individual differences in trust in traditional journalism can be predicted by social media use, reliance on traditional media for news, endorsement of conspiracy theories, and mistrust of experts (include inferential statistics and effect sizes for the full model and individual predictors and full interpretation of the results) (20 marks);
(d) repeat the analysis but examine whether the predictive utility of the set of significant predictors from the previous model is independent of possible relationships between age and political conservatism, which the researchers consider nuisance variables, and trust in traditional journalism (include inferential statistics and effect sizes for the full model and individual predictors and full interpretation of the results) (20 marks);
(e) test the mediation model proposed by the researchers (include inferential statistics and effect sizes for the full model and individual predictors and interpretation of the results) (25 marks)
Leave out the discussion section (300 words) but write a few bullet points summarizing the meaning of each finding within these analyses.
