Literary Elements
We all like to eat. Well, eating is the analyzing and enjoying phase possible after a meal has been prepared. When we eat a meal, we have expectations. We expect that the meal will conform to our idea of what that particular dish should taste like, smell like, and look like.
Well, the chef prepares that meal.
When we enjoy it, we are, whether we admit it or not, critiquing the chef's job as a chef.
Now, take that same idea and apply it to the art of writing.
When writers write, they are preparing a work of literature, or essay, in other words, a writer's work is his or her prose. It is the product they prepare using the tools that are common to the trade.
Those tools are literary elements.
Much like ingredients make the meal, literary elements make the prose.

Literary elements are very essential ingredients to all works of literature. Without them, we don't have literature at all, we just have words on a page.
