My assignment is to prepare for a presentation that critiques an assigned article based on the checklist provided.
The presentation will be graded on how well I address the following areas and how well I lead the discussion. The presentation has to include the following contents (also the contents in the "Checklist of Review" that I have provided)
- Introduction – What is the purpose of the paper?
- Background – What was the gap in the literature that the study is addressing? Is the background literature comprehensive? Does the article make the case that the study is needed?
- Methods – What methods were used to conduct the study? What was the study design? Was a conceptual framework utilized? On what basis was the conceptual framework chosen? What was the population that was studied? Was the population appropriate to answer the research questions? How was the sample selected? Did participant recruitment create any bias in the study design? What were the strengths and weaknesses of the data collection methods? What data analysis strategies were used? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the data analysis methods?
- Results – Are the results described in detail? Does the results section provide a comprehensive summary of the study findings? Are there tables available? Are the tables presented appropriately? Are there figures? Are the figures useful?
- Conclusions – Do the results justify the conclusions? Do the results address the gap in the literature?
- Limitations – Do the authors describe the limitations of the study? Are the limitations fully detailed?
