PayChex, Inc.”, it was immediately apparent that they would benefit from the use of both, the
behaviors and results analysis approach. PayChex, Inc. has been in the in the payroll, human
resource, and benefits outsourcing industry since it founded in 1971 by B. Thomas Golisano. The
behavior approach focuses on what employees do on the job and does not consider employees’
traits or the outcomes resulting from their behaviors. It is a process-oriented approach that
emphasizes how an employee does the job. According to Bianca, “The behavioral approach to
the performance management system rests on the idea that you can get the right level of
performance from employees based on a demonstration of desirable behaviors. Also, suitable
employee behaviors are the focus that employees use to accomplish their goals.
