Description of Assignment:

LO1- Understand the systems life cycle.

Task 1             Produce a diagram of a systems life cycle model identifying feedback and output where appropriate  (AC 1.1)

Task 2             You should keep a log of time spent on analysing the attached case study and identify problem areas and suggest improvements. You should use a table to present this information. (AC 3.2).

Task 3             For the attached case study you should apply an appropriate systems life cycle model. You should outline the main steps and state start dates, finish dates and durations for each task. (AC 1.2).

Task 4             Using the attached case study you should identify and analyse problems with the existing system (AC 1.3).

LO2- Understand the role of a systems analyst

Task 5             Specify qualities required for a systems analyst that may be applicable to the attached case study.  Specify tasks that the systems analyst will need to carry out that may be applicable to the attached case study  (AC 2.1).

Task 7             Explain how fact finding tools identified in task 6 may be used in relation to the case study clarifying their appropriateness for this situation (AC 2.3).

LO3- Know the use of various systems tools

(Task 2 )

LO4- Know how to solve a problem in a given situation

Task 9             Specify the Functional and Non-Functional Requirements for a new system in the attached case study  (AC 4.1)

Task 10           You should recommend solutions (a minimum of 2 or a maximum of 3 solutions ) to include 1 bespoke and 1 commercial ‘off the shelf’. You should evaluate both highlighting advantages and disadvantages for both solution. (AC 4.2)
