The case that I chose to discuss in establishing freedom of
speech is still waiting to go to court but this case will open the door for
student-athletes across the country to receive compensation for thire likeness
and words. Former University backup kicker, recived payments from his YouTube

Donald De La Haye filed
a complaint in federal court after his scholarship was rescinded in violation
of his first amendment rights. Zack is suing stating that his right to freedom
of speech had been violated by the university. I think is relevant going
forward because student-athletes are going to constantly seek payment for
things they say and do moving forward.
Libel is a published
false statement that ruins a person’s reputation. Slander is speaking false
statement that damage a person’s reputation. One case that stands out is Mark
Storm who in 2015 received $50,000 in a defamation lawsuit it was stated he had
a drinking problem, ( Bob Cook) Lifestyle ( May 28.2018 )
