A. OBJECTIVES In this lab you will:
1. Research different types of concrete foundation wall.
2. Make civil engineering sketches.
3. Create a CAD drawing of the foundation wall.
4. Create the sectional drawing.
5. Dimension the drawing.
6. Plot the file as a PDF.
In AutoCAD, begin by setting up the
LAYERS, LINETYPES, STYLES, LIMITS,
UNITS, and other drawing aids before you
start the actual drawing. All of these can be
found under the FORMAT pull-down menu.

SAVE the file, name it Foundation wall
Go to the FORMAT pull-down menu and choose units. Change the default units of Decimal to Architectural,
and set the drawing units to inches and the precision to 1/8”. See Figure 1:
Then setup the LAYERS.
