EXAM CONTENT & OBJECTIVES
The exam will cover all of the lectures and readings through the entire course. Its intent is to test both your knowledge of major course topics and your ability to synthesize analytical arguments based on that knowledge. Accordingly, you will be graded on the clarity, accuracy, and persuasiveness of your argument and on how precisely and thoroughly you support it.
EXAM QUESTIONS
It will consist of two essay questions, one from Section A and one from Section B below. This study
guide contains the text of all four possible essay prompts, exactly as they would appear on the
exam. But because you will not know until the day of the exam which two you will get, you must
be prepared to write on all four. You don’t need to use anything other than course materials (i.e.
assigned readings and lectures) to prepare.
