Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to analyze the current state of the LPGA and formulate strategies to assist the LPGA in addressing some of their marketing and sponsorship issues.
Description
Students will read the attached LPGA case study and answer the following questions:
- How could a partnership between the LPGA and the PGA be used to benefit both organizations? Would the PGA be interested in a partnership? Why or why not?
- Should the LPGA Tour move towards more international sponsorship or focus on reestablishing its market in the United States?
- How can the LPGA market its international players to its American fan base? Should the LPGA work to expand to a more global fan base?
- The English-only policy caused a negative backlash from fans, players, sponsors and the media. What marketing strategies could be applied to reconnect the LPGA with its American fan base?
- Should the LPGA concentrate on four major championships or increase the number of prestigious or mandatory tournaments?
