Research Report:

You are to research a public sector agency.

The research report you will be submitting will ask you to investigate the policies and procedures for a government, not-for-profit agency, or any organizations that receives government funding on a regular basis and uses it to operate.

You need to look for the following information as a minimum:

Organization name

Organization Type

o   City

o   Town

o   Village

o   School board

o   College

o   University

o   Hospital or Healthcare provider

o   Not For Profit Organization (NPO)

o   Government (federal, provincial or territorial)

o   Charity

o   Other

Organization budget (if locatable)

What is the organization responsible for?

Do they have Policies and Procedures for Procurement Available and where?

Do they comply with legislation governing them (Ontario Municipal Act, etc.)

How current are the policies/procedures?

Do they include dollar limitations?

Do they publish information on the web for the public?

Do they publish Requests for Procurement on a website site?

            Their own, or a service and if a service, which one?

Were you able to locate an open or closed tender/quote/requirement to review and compare to the policies and procedures – did they comply with the policies and procedures? – A single tender/bid comparison is acceptable

Was there anything in the policies and Procedures that you felt was unique or different?

You need to identify at the beginning of your report submission the name of the organization, the website address and any other source you used to gather information. This should be no longer than one page.

Comparison Report:

You are to compare Public Sector Procurement to Private Sector Procurement.

This is a formal Business Research Report, in which you are to report on your research findings.

Your report should be very concise, no more than 12 pages, this includes the title page.

Spelling, Grammar and Presentation count for marks. Remember to cite your research throughout the report.
