Read the three poems below.  Then, write an analysis of ONE of the poems using the Surface, Interpretation, Form method we learned in class.

Surface

Figure out the basic meaning of the language in the poem.  In this section, you are checking to make sure that you actually understand the most basic meaning of the words and sentences in the poem before you try to understand its deeper meaning or value.

Interpretation

Based on your surface observations, state what you think the poem is trying to get you to feel or think about.  What is the meaning of all of the surface observations and why do they matter?

Form

How is the poem laid out on the page?  Does it rhyme?  Is proper punctuation and grammar used?  Why did the author make these choices?

Each section should be at least 100 words (meaning 300 words total, minimum).
