This course investigates how basic beliefs -- about the world, personal identity, and right and wrong -- guide your management of self and co-workers. Recognizing their image of the ideal human being enables leaders to understand and manage themselves, and others around them. Course materials, discussions, and assignments explore the social/cultural context of management, so students become selfaware. The result is a new way of thinking about leading others in daily work.
Learning ObjecƟves
1. Explain the significance of foundational commitments which shape management theories
2. Demonstrate appreciation of the way that managers coach the work of others
3. Use metaphor analysis for discernment of worldview commitments at work
4. Explain how conceptions of work relate to worldviews
5. Engage in dialogue with other managers to reflect together on matters of mutual concern
