Description

BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEM

This course uses a final case analysis in addition to the final exam to demonstrate competency in security policy and security planning. The case analysis assignment is designed to integrate the learning material in a real-world scenario. You will be asked to discuss this case with your peers and engage in an optional live case discussion.

A case analysis report should be no more than five (5) pages, single-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font with one (1) inch margins. References should be included for all external resources at the end of the report and do not count towards the page requirement. While there is no minimum requirement, I have never seen an outstanding report that is less than three (3) pages.

My grading framework for the case analysis report is as follows:

  • 90-100% - Overall exceptionally well prepared, demonstrates thorough understanding of key concepts, demonstrates exceptional critical thinking and creativity in analysis, no grammatical mistakes, and written using business professional language.
  • 80-90% - Overall well prepared, demonstrates good application of key concepts, demonstrates exceptional critical thinking and some creativity in analysis, few grammatical mistakes, and written using business professional language.
  • 70-80% - Overall well prepared, demonstrates an attempt to apply concepts appropriately, demonstrates critical thinking or creativity in analysis, several grammatical mistakes, and written using professional language.
  • 60-70% - Overall adequately prepared, demonstrates somewhat of an attempt to apply key concepts, and several grammatical mistakes.
  • Below 60% - Inadequately prepared, does not demonstrate key concepts, does not demonstrate critical thinking in analysis, and several grammatical mistakes.

The case analysis assignment is to be completed individually. However, you are encouraged to talk with your fellow classmates about your ideas, reach out to the instructor for thoughts and feedback, and engage during the interactive case discussion (either live session or via the module discussion board). Ideas are always better when they are shared!

Your case analysis will be on the Intel Corps. - Bring Your Own Device Harvard Business Case. Please answer the following questions as part of your case analysis:

  1. Should BYOD be encouraged or banned (justify your choice)? Does BYOD increase productivity in the workplace?
  2. What are the key challenges and opportunities to a BYOD approach from a security perspective?
  3. What security decisions can Intel make to ensure security of the corporate data on an employee-owned device that is used in the workplace?
  4. How should Intel manage BYOD in the face of its e-Discovery obligations?
