Description

1.1 Instructions

• This exam includes three questions: two R-based and one theory-based.

• This exam is “open book,” which means you are permitted to use any materials handed out in class, your own notes from the course.

• The exam must be taken completely alone. Unlike homworks, showing or discussing the exam with anyone is forbidden.

• All questions about the exam of any type can only be asked to Dr. Akash Gupta via email.

• Unlike homeworks, the instructor will not help to find the solution. The purpose of assignments is to improve your learning, while the purpose of the exam is to test your learning. However, please feel free to reach out for clarification on any questions.

• Please DO NOT submit the screenshots of the whole screen. You are allowed to take screenshots of plots and consoles showing the outcome of your code.

• Address each question clearly. The answers to the coding-based questions should include code and the outcome, while the answer to interpretation bases questions should include interpretation. DO NOT skip the interpretation.

• For each question related to coding, you need to include one or two sentences explaining the segment of the code. No explanation, no points.

• The solution will be awarded partial points. In case you are not able to derive a final solution, write down the steps you took to solve the problem. Errors are acceptable but not silly tricks.

• Remember, after the submission deadline, I will randomly select a few students to explain their solutions. The selected students will be notified and will meet with the instructor via Zoom during the mutually agreed time.

• In case of the violation of academic honesty, the student will receive ZERO in the exam, and the final class grade will be downgraded by a letter.
