This second assignment will be a review of an academic journal relating to chapters in English Phonetics and Phonology course. You are to work in pairs. The project consists of a written review and an oral presentation.
The written review should be printed in Times New Roman, 12 with a spacing of 2.0. The length of the review should be 6-8 pages long. The content of your review should include the following:
a) The first paragraph should be the summary of the article-what does it say?
b) The next paragraph (s) should discuss the context that the article fits in. What is the author’s background on the subject? What problems does the article address? What is the author arguing for, and or against? What are the issues addressed?
c) The next paragraph (s) should give your evaluation of the article. Is the article convincing? Why or why not? What other issues could the author have dealt with? Does the author include any points that are not relevant to the main topic being discussed?
d) The following paragraph (s) should discuss the possible application of the article. How will reading this article affect your understanding of English phonetics and phonology as well as pronunciation?
e) The final paragraph should contain your conclusion. Briefly summarize and synthesize what you have into concise reading.
f) Submit your assignment on 13/11/2019. For every late submission, 5% will be deducted PER DAY.
Then, you are required to present your work on 20&27/11/2019. The oral presentation should not take more than 20 minutes per pair. You are to present via power point, and hardcopies of your presentation are to be submitted before your turn. Please print 4 slides on a page, black and white, on both sides of the paper with your names and student IDs.
