Touch Lab Data Analysis: Group Assignment
OBJECTIVE:
To understand the general sensation of touch, receptors associated with touch sensation, and lab tests to
analyze the sense of touch. Correctly and appropriately collect, analyze, and present data in a concise and meaningful
way utilizing the appropriate graph format. Productively work in groups to successfully complete the group assignment.
DUE: Wednesday, January 22, or Thursday, January 23, at the beginning of lab. ONE REPORT per group including:
• Completed tables and graphs for each exercise
• Associated questions for each exercise
DIRECTIONS:
Students will complete Exercises 18.12 (two-point discrimination), 18.13 (tactile localization), and 18.14 (sensory
adaptation) in their lab manual.
DATA ANALYSIS:
A. For EACH exercise, students will work in groups to complete a table, then graph the data from that table with an appropriate graph form.
Understanding which type of graph to select for the data is an important part of this exercise. For additional help understanding making a graph, please review the following websites:

B. Interpretation of the data is also an important part of scientific research. For this lab you will use the data to
answer the following questions about the lab. Answers to these questions should be included with the graphs
and tables for each exercise. Please type your answers and turn in one copy of the answers to the questions per
group.
