Description

Trace how slavery evolved and the role it played in American history from colonial times through 1800. After the Seven Years’ War, Great Britain and the colonies began a great debate about the nature of government, a debate that ended (temporarily) with the ratification of the U.S. Constitution. Trace that debate and the developing theories about constitutionalism and the proper form of government in America up through the adoption of the Bill of Rights. You are going to give a lecture to students about American history up through 1800. You are allowed to pick four to seven events that you think were the most important in shaping the country’s history up that point. Your essay is that lecture. Please be sure to discuss the specific events in detail and to show why they were so significant. At least three of the events must be from before the Seven Years’ War.
