Description
On a clear night away from artificial light, look up
at the sky and identify a dim star. Look at it directly for a few minutes. The
star should quickly become difficult to see. Now look at the dark sky just next
to the star.
- What did you
experience? Can you see the star better if you look directly at it? Or
better to the side?
- Consider what you
have learned about rods and cones in the retina. Discuss your experience
in terms of rods and cones.
- Be sure to include
terms from the course, including fovea and peripheral vision.
