Try to articulate their purpose clearly. Stress the Importance of the Subject: give the readers a reason to care about their subject. Provide Background Information: background information often includes materials that readers already know or won’t find controversial. It could be historical or stress a connection with the readers. Forecast the content: identify the major topics the document will cover. Is the thesis/purpose statement clear? Do you know what the paper is going to be about?
