For your reflective essay, you are to choose one of the following topics we have discussed in the course:
- History of Philanthropy
- Differences between public and non-profit sectors
- Ethical practices in fundraising and philanthropy
- Fundraising Campaigns: Capital and Annual
After selecting a topic of your choice, you are to write an essay encompassing the following:
- Give an overview of your topic (this can include history, important dates and milestones, etc).
- Who are the major players in your topic (For example, #1 non-profit and #1 public sector, the founder of philanthropy, etc).
- Select a specific event revolving around your topic (For example, if you were to choose the history of philanthropy you would elaborate on a major gift or philanthropic event that has taken place in the world), and provide details surrounding the event (Who did it help? Did it hurt anybody?)
- What have you learned thus far in the course to assist you with better explaining the topic to an individual who is unfamiliar?
- Reflective Piece: Why did you register for SEE 3065? Do you have a passion for fundraising and philanthropy? Are you thinking of making this a career move one day?
FormattingYour essay should be approximately 1,000-1,500 words
You are expected to use in-text references and provide a reference list at the end of your essay.
Your essay must be typed (double spaced). Please use 12 point Times New Roman font and 1 inch margins.
After you complete your work, you should save your essay as a Microsoft Word document, and upload it to the Assignment entitled: "Mid-Term Exam Essay"
