My objective
in pursuing a master’s program in the Anatomy and Neurobiology program at
Boston University is to fulfill my curiosity and passion toward the human
anatomy. My goal of pursuing this
program is to:
1. Enhance my
academic profile for application for medical school
2. To become a
competitive applicant
3. To acquire in-depth
graduate science courses being non-traditional applicant
4. Assist in my
personal and professional growth
5. Explore
research opportunities while having the qualifying science courses to conduct
research
6. Graduation of
this program will increase the like hood of getting into med school
7. I am enamoured
by the subject and fulfilling my curiosity requires advancing my education
pursuing my passion.
How did I
become interested into human anatomy and medicine?
1. Taking the
undergraduate courses in Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 has sparked my interest
and opened my intellectual curiosity to further my education in a graduate
course where the emphasis is human anatomy.
2. I have always wanted to be a doctor. My path as a non-traditional
student have made my path seem complicated and I got lost in the process. I was
not fulfilled and could not ignore the dream of becoming a doctor which had
been gnawing at me no longer. I had to make myself a better applicant and
better market myself for qualification. I knew I do not want to live a life of
regret or “what if”. Being the first generation of my family to go to college,
being an Arabic female, I found it challenging to navigate the system.
3. Sacrifices be damned! Nothing was worse than the uncertainty I felt or
to live a life of regret wishing I gave my true dreams all I got or give myself
a chance.
4. Shadowing Dr. Robert Decker at University of Florida Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
Institute and observing a spine fusion surgery in the OR and in clinic was one
of the most remarkable experiences of my life which emphasized my passion
toward pursuing a career in medicine.
5. Shadowed Dr. Frieda Ansoanuur, physical
medicine and rehabilitation, pediatric Rehabilitation medicine
6. My future goals involve merging both
disciplines of my education in medicine and academics into my future career and
get involved in teaching med students, mentoring, advising, and serving greater
role in academic setting and education.
