ASSIGNMENT 1: (PowerPoint presentation)
You are required to compile an information PowerPoint presentation that will be given to the parents of the children in your FP class (any grade) during your first introductory parent/teacher meeting of the year. The purpose of the information presentation is to communicate to the parents your classroom management style and administrative tasks they should be aware of to make management of the learning environment optimal. Your PowerPoint presentation must have an introduction cover slide with the words “Introduction to my classroom” and your name. The last slide must be the Honour Pledge. Be sure to include critical notes at the bottom of each PowerPoint slide. Maximum is 12 slides. (Cover + 10 slides + Honour Pledge)
However, your submission must include the following:
· A description of the context of your envisioned school and substantiation of your approach and inclusion of particular information in your presentation.
· A reflection of your approach to personal classroom management and teaching (e.g. teaching strategies used, communication about expectations regarding assessment, homework, completion of classwork etc.)
· A reflection of your attitude towards expectations of classroom behaviour (e.g. codes of conduct, classroom motivation/rewards/behaviour modification systems)
· How parents should communicate with you on a variety of issues related to their children’s learning activities
· Other administrative issues such as resources required of children, management of absenteeism etc.
· References to all resources used for to substantiate your ideas – in-text and in a final reference list – which conform to the guidelines given in the Academic Guidelines 2019 document on FUNDA.
Your submission must demonstrate the following:
· Your thorough engagement with the resources provided and referenced on FUNDA (including the prescribed reading) which have informed your opinions and rationale for inclusion in your information brochure.
· Your understanding of classroom management approaches and the practical application of your chosen approach to daily classroom activities and responsibilities of teachers and learners.
Remember you are evaluated at this level (NQF 7) for your analysis, synthesis, judgement and critical thinking skills in the interpretation of the subject matter. Insight and application are important skills to cultivate.
