Your seminal assignment this term is to conduct an interview with an industry professional, specifically an individual who works in sponsorship. I encourage you to interview someone at a company or organization you may have aspirations of one day working for. You will be required to initiate contact with the industry professional and set up a time to conduct a 15 to 20 minute face-to-face interview.
The primary objective of the interview is to get a sense of how an organization approaches sponsorship as a marketing vehicle. Prior to the interview you will be developing a minimum of 15 interview questions to ask during the interview. Please keep in mind, the maximum length of the interview is 20 minutes. As a result, you may not be able to ask all of the interview questions you have developed.
You can work either individually or in a team of two. You will be required to video record your interview (instructions for video recording will be provided). Please keep in mind this is a learning opportunity, but more importantly a networking opportunity for you. The interview should be a minimum of 15 minutes and maximum of 20 minutes (you will be assessed on time management). You will be required to upload your interview during Week 10 of the term.
When you are identifying candidates to interview, please consider the following:
- Please send an introductory (and professionally crafted) email to your potential interviewee and explain the objective of your interview.
- Please contact your candidate(s) far in advance to give them ample time to arrange a time in their calendar to meet with you.
- Send your interview questions to your interviewee at least one week in advance of the actual interview. (This step helps them prepare for the interview)
- Wear professional dress when conducting the interview.
- When the interview is complete, please be sure to send the interviewee a thank you note or
